Dexter Nurse is a trumpet player born and raised in Crown Heights, Brooklyn. He began playing trumpet while incarcerated at the age of 39.
Some of his influences are Chet Baker, Miles Davis, Clifford Brown, and Woody Shaw.
Nurse came home in October 2015 after serving twenty years to life. He is currently working on a music program for inner city youth which he hopes will steer kids from the street life and prison and onto positive paths.
